When one enters the graveyard he should first send peace and salutations to the dwellers of the graves by saying:
السَّلامُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الدِّيَارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ ، وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ بِكُمْ لَلَاحِقُونَ ، نَسْأَلُ اللهَ لَنَا وَلَكُمُ الْعَافِيَةَ
“Peace be upon you all, O inhabitants of the dwellings (i.e. the graves), amongst the believers and the Muslims. Indeed we are, Allah willing, soon to follow (to die also), we ask Allah for well-being for us and for you.”

Recommended Surahs to Recite and send the reward of the recitation upon the people of the Qabrs :
- Surah Yasin
- Surah Al-Fatihah and the beginning part of Surah Al-Baqarah up to the end of the fifth ayah.
- Ayat-ul-Kursi
- Last ruku’ of Surah Al-Baqarah.
- Surah Al-Mulk
- Surah Al-Takathur
- Sura Al-Ikhlas three, seven, eleven, or twelve times
